About

Justin Smith

Father, Husband, Filmmaker

By the time he was nine years old, Justin was a scuba diver, a yellow belt in karate, and an accomplished Cub Scout (a few years later he was an unaccomplished Boy Scout, but he got to see Full Metal Jacket and learned that Master of Puppets is Metallica’s best album, so it wasn’t all bad). As an adult, he jumped out of loaders that were on fire and a perfectly good airplane that wasn’t. In addition to almost going to Japan once, he got married and had an awesome kid. In addition to the accomplishments mentioned above, Justin and his daughter made a “negative and violent” film about Care Bears playing tic-tac-toe.

Things I do
  • Watch old movies with my awesome kid
  • Eat burgers and listen to devil music with my awesome wife
  • Read long boring books about filmmaking and story structure
  • Make films
